Ofcourse all of us now know what I am referring to, specifically who are the people I am referring to precisely? Have we ever really taken some time off and Cognitively,Humanely thought about them as people without Prejudices coming in our way??? I know there is multiplicity of NGO’s, who lend a helping hand, to educate them or help them in any possible way that they can…I am also cognizant of the fact that in some countries it is a Legalised Profession…In some cases Law offers protection against beastly, brutal acts.. They come within the scope of different Labour Laws in certain situation… This does not eliminate the fact that, we know the outcome of all these endeavours result in Atrocities...
But what about Us? We the ordinary Mass??? I want to believe that there are ordinary people like us who also stretch their hands to help the victims of Beastiality… Again proof shows that these helping hands are limited…Some people consider helping an Orphanage or Old Age Home would be much more respectful and noble rather than offering help to a Brothel…
Speaking of a Brothel, we never truly realise that many people are Born there, Work there and eventually Lay their lives in those dingy lane…They ain’t even named properly merely because they are children of Sex Workers!Giving them demeaning slurs will not harm them or our reputation in any way… We evade talking about them, or simply justify our conscience by saying, “Its a choice,or we’ve better things to talk about”…

We rant about Women Empowerment,Equality and so on but what about them??? How are the Sex Workers not within the periphery of such protests and protection. Why are we hesitant to take a stand for them???
Sex Workers do not solely mean Women but also Men,Transgenders Or Kids who are still minors and have no cognitive capacity to fathom the path they have been compelled to take…

What maybe a pleasure for you could be a torture or nightmare for these Sex Workers, which they must endure every single day of their life..not once but multiple times by different people with their Nasty Desires N Fetishes…
Which includes: Physical Abuse,Verbal Abuse,Mental Torture,Threats And Forced To Do Things Which Is Against Their Consent…

And here there is a role of a middle man who assigns roles to sex workers regarding take to care of any client.. They are called Pimp…These lumps maybe small or big scales professionals found in Luxurious Hotels Or In The Inappropriate Lanes…
Countless number of times sex workers contract incurable disease because of the lack of Precautionary Measures and thereby suffer a lonely, painful death….
But who cares!? Its their life and choice, No one has given us the leverage to conclude so?We’ve often read or seen in movies that these innocent people are manipulated by their own relatives or acquaintances to go and embark on the city life, even compelled to earn a better living for their Families…
We know that the rosy picture is an illusion… In some unfortunate cases people consciously take this profession but have we ever contemplated the reason behind such compulsion???
The need of the hour or irrepairable circumstances led them to be sold in bits and pieces… We lack apathy to comprehend their compulsion….
While it had been legalized in many countries and is an integral part of our society… However very conveniently we swindle away from this topic to keep our stature poised…It is thereby my humble request to all my Family,Friends And Fellow Readers that please don’t be uncomfortable talking about them or their deplorable living conditions and tortures they face…We lack the capacity to consider them as citizens equivalent to us…At the least we must stop blaming them for their occupation and abusing them… At the end of the day they are humans and not pleasure giving commodity…we must try to contribute towards their welfare, if not in a monetary way then by giving them Respect..Nobody is born with the aspiration to be a Sex Worker hence let’s try to accept and not boycott them for their profession… Respect is a very basic human right and it does not distinguish any human…No lunch is free in this world, hence let’s come to terms with that they are trying to afford theirs…

Strange But A Fact:The ones we hate and think as a menace to society without their mud/soil our Goddess Durga’s Idol Is Incomplete…All the celebrations nullify at the bud..

P.Sโ I know this is a very strong and brazen content and I do not intent to demean or challenge Anyone/The Law Or Any Country…
Last but certainly not the Least is it only Flesh Trading Or Soul Selling???

Its an alarming situation of our society.Respect should come regardless of Profession or status.Dark sides of our community and noone wants to talk abt it.

Congratulations for picking up such a bold topic and making us think again… Very well drafted with lot of insight and facts which we either like to ignore or willfully avoid…
For far too long, the sex industry and its sex workers have been a taboo matter. It is a subject that so many people feel uncomfortable to discuss, yet prostitution is a profession found in almost every culture around the world. Why, if it is such a global occurrence, do we as a society treat sex workers as second-class citizens? And why is it taboo?
Your blog will make the audience to reconsider them. After all, they are people, too. They deserve our respect firstly because they are human, but also because it is by no means a stress and danger-free profession.
Well done Ms Basu!! Keep it up…kudos to your spirit and your courage!!

This topic is avoided by almost everyone… this shows the double standards of our society where we only talk about things we are comfortable of talking about and avoid addressing such crucial issues. Yet when it comes of being judgemental we comfortably and flawlessly play the role. Sigh…. being a woman I strongly condemn such acts of hypocrisy….respecting people from every walk of life is something we all need to realize.
Thanks Miss Basu for voicing this topic so perfectly… hope u continue doing the good work.. my best wishes

Eye opening content. We get busy in our lives and become oblivious to such atrocities in life. Life is difficult and everyone deserves a fair chance to live it. Well written again.

This blog just screams out that our society still has a long way to go….. Our society likes to be a part of conversations that are easy to handle….the ones that genuinely need attention, people like to maintain social distance there….
I love what you have brought up here…keep writing more…
